Join Our Lab

Join the Simeth Research Group and Shape the Future of Science

Discover how to become part of our vibrant research group and engage with cutting-edge projects at the interface of photochemistry and biology. Explore how our lab fosters innovation and collaboration, dedicated to advancing organic chemistry, photochemistry, molecular machines, and biology through a supportive and inspiring environment.

Undergraduate Students

We offer research topics for interns at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level as well as for Bachelor’s and Master’s projects. We host both students from the University of Göttingen & Uppsala as well as international exchange students or guests for research stays of flexible length.

We expect:

• interest in organic synthesis of colored compounds and/or interest in spectroscopic techniques and/or chemical biology,
• curiosity in learning new techniques and working in more than one classical discipline

Graduate Students

We offer tailored PhD student education in a supportive and collaborative environment with personalized supervision. Open positions are advertised on this website. Candidates who are interested in applying for own funding by acquiring an independent research fellowship (German Scholarship Foundations, FCI; industry sponsored fellowship, DAAD, etc. ) to join one of our research programs can expect extensive support for their preparation. Please contact NAS in advance to discuss potential projects and feel free to add #Butterbreze in the content line to indicate that you read our website (Unspecific emails may not be answered).

We expect potential graduate students to…

• have a solid background in organic synthesis,
• have some experience in data processing and analysis,
• ideally have some experience in optical spectroscopy and/or organic photochemistry and/or biochemistry
• be creative, and curious in acquiring new techniques

Senior Researchers

We host postdoctoral researcher or senior exchange researchers for their training and prepare them for their next career step offering vast freedom in project design and give ownership to own ideas. Open positions are advertised on this website. Candidates who are interested in applying for own funding by acquiring an independent research fellowship (Marie-Curie, Humboldt, DFG, DAAD, etc.) to join one of our research programs can expect extensive support for their preparation. Please contact NAS in advance to discuss potential projects and feel free to add #Mettbroetchen in the content line to indicate that you read our website (Unspecific emails may not be answered).

We expect senior researchers to…

• have a solid background in organic synthesis,
• have experience and designing and conducting a research project (appropriate to the stage)
• have experience in guiding and supervising junior group members,
• have experience in data processing and analysis,
• ideally have some experience in optical spectroscopy and/or organic photochemistry and/or biochemistry
• are creative, and curious in acquiring new techniques
